Hi there
Can anyone suggest a tree to plant along a fence line, in a driveway. Also, it will need to be a small to medium Tree so that it does not interfere with Energy Australia's power lines 9 so under 20ft). We need the Tree as a screen from the Street and our neighbours rubbish bins. Have been looking for hours at all the Evergreens, as there is no point in getting a tree that will shed all its leaves for several months. Am really out of my depth here and have some opposition from some urban terrorists on the Committee who got rid of almost all our Trees 3 years ago. The property is in Ryde, Sydney, NSW. Have spoken to Ryde Council and asked their advice as to a Tree I spotted I thought would be suitable which turns out to be a Tristaniopsis laurina “Luscious” (Water Gum) but think it will be too wide. I want the Tree to be fairly fast growing and have looked at a Hibiscus_tiliaceus_Rubra which I think said it was an "Evergreen"? Couldn't attach photo unfortunately..

Any ideas out there or am I asking too too much!! Would really appreciate some advice.
Kind Regards
Valerie

if you need to screen the neighbours bins & I assume people & cars on the street, you will need more of a tall shrub. Foilage down low, tall & narrow. Lillypillys like ’Resiliance’ or ’Pinnacle’, then hedge them to desired shape. Or if you want to make a statement use a yucca or dracaena. For flowers you could use an Oleander . All these plants will take full sun and tolerate periods of dry.
Hope that helps

I’d also consider bay laurels as they can be hedged very well and have dense foliage when cut back

Decide if the garden design needs a formal, clipped hedge; or a looser look where flowers or fruit can be left to grow. Also consider the desired height of the hedge.

Palmetto

Palmetto Soft Leaf Buffalo is ideally suited as a lawn in many applications.
