The regulation white powderpuff flowers, magenta berries and glossy tropical foliage across the many forms of Syzygium australe on the market seem to give this lilly pilly its strong following. But the species is among the most vulnerable to leaf pimpling from psyllid attack. With time and testing, some forms have proven resistant. One (left) is aptly called ‘Resilience'. 'Select Form' (right), 'Select', 'Elite', 'Aussie Compact' and 'Compact Form' are possibly all the same plant being sold under different names. They resist psyllids too.
