I know these are tropical plants but someone told me they might grow in my district (Illawarra NSW , actually Shoalhaven Heads near Nowra).I'd like to plant both the fistula and the Rainbow Shower here if possible. Any advice as to suitability and possible purchase sources?

These are tropical plants and really do grow best where winters are short. But they have been grown successfully in Sydney so if your climate is comparable, you should have success. Keep them completely out of frost, in full sun, free draining soil and lots of water. If you can, plant against a wall to maximise heat available to them.
