in my garden

Hello all,

I don't know if this is or not the right place for this question but:

In my over grown garden besides a large family of rabbits, field mice and the odd brown snake I draw the line at these spiders - they have taken to installing webs across the paths.

Are these spiders venomous or pretty harmless ? Does any body know what they are named?

BTW : they are about 65mm long.

TIA

Jerry.

As furry as rabbits and mice but not as cute. Although I know an 8yo boy who would debate that.

Looks like it could be a golden orb weaver. Copy and paste this link and have a look: http://www.xs4all.nl/~ednieuw/australian/nephila/Nephila.html
