Choosing reliable hybrids is probably the first step to success without too much maintenance, especially if you're in a more summer humid area. A lot of varieties are short-lived and really only intended to be temporary potted colour. Ramm Botanicals' have landscapers and dam savers ranges that are geared for the longer term in the garden and they also have good info on maintenance (www.ramm.com.au).

Reuse everything you usually throw away e.g. milk cartons as plant guards, newspaper under mulch, dishwashing water on the garden, pots for seedlings. Simple, really.

Palmetto

Palmetto Soft Leaf Buffalo is ideally suited as a lawn in many applications.
