silver feather grass

Following up yesterday with another flowering grass. This one isn't native but isn't weedy either. It's called Silver Feather Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberfeder') for its tall silvery plumes – with barely a hint of the pink that most other forms of maiden grass have.

The stems tend to get a bit lax – especially near the end of the season – but it's a graceful, arching effect if positioned with enough space next to a pond or the top of a retaining wall.

The show will disappear over the coming months when it's all cut back and cleaned up before winter ends to start afresh in spring.
